Holy Unfinished Art-Pieces, Batman!

I hijacked Frank’s i-phone tonight to snap some pics of  the ‘couple’ of unfinished pieces that I’ve got in the hopper.  I ran his battery dead and just in general, look like an ass lol.

If anyone has any specific ideas on one of them – like what the heck to do to finish one – I’d love to hear it.  I am very consistent about getting RIGHTTHERE and turning away and running.  Not sure why but I am terrified that those last few touches will destroy everything – especially on the ones that I really like.

In no particular order, here’s what I mean:

Unfinished collage girl

(above) this is my new favorite size/shape paper to work with.  It’s heavy weight Strathmore Watercolor Cold Press 6″ x 18″; 140 pound (300g/m)

Strathmore 6″ x 18″

2 page butterflies

I’m gonna work on some stuff before posting any of the others…it’s really eating at me that there’s so many in such a state!  What a mess, grrr.

Start Fresh

Usually the ‘start over’ urge comes with Spring-time, but that’s with ‘normal’ people and that I am not.  So, the spring cleaning is beginning now, in the Fall- and I’m starting with my blog.  I’m determined to get over the hard-wired habit of mine to journal by hand, on paper – old fashioned style.

Like I’ve said in many ways and many times over, I wish to be part of an art community, even if the community is small.  Someone to collaborate with, commiserate with and share the art that we create.  I’m going to make a promise to myself to post daily and share what I’m doing and hope that, soon, others will start to share also.

So, that’s that.

And I’m working on about a ga-zillion pieces, someday I will get over the freakish habit I have to get a piece Alllmost finished and then lose my confidence and just…Stop.

I’m going to be posting a few of what’s going on right now, what’s in that ‘almost there’ stage!

I would LOVE to hear from anyone!!

Mixed Media – Art Journaling Pieces

I’m spending a few posts on some of my Mixed media and art journaling pages/pieces, in various states of completion.  Many of these will be going into my Etsy shop (June 17th) as originals and prints.

Whirlwind of Activity

I am definitely in the middle of a little whirlwind of art filled activity.  Something bit me threw me into Idea Overload.  This is all well and good with me.  Of course my goals are to get myself published in one of the art magazines that I love, author a book and use my art to create other things.

Right now I am working on a couple of 7×14 paintings on canvas, my personal art journal and a couple of handmade books that I began just to see if I could do it.

I am working on a few specific pieces for ‘calls and/or challenges’ from some of my favorite magazines:

‘Art Journaling’ Magazine by Stampington    has an open call for inspirational and beautiful art journals (August 15 and February 15)

‘Somerset Memories’ : artful journals destined to become keepsakes. (may 15 and nov. 15)

‘Somerset studios, the art of paper and mixed media

Cheerful Chartreuse ‘   There is something about this shade of green that makes people smile. It is a bold, vivid, and friendly color. It’s found just about everywhere — from wall colors and couture dresses to yarn and cardstock — making it a fun color to work with.  Accent your tintype collection with chartreuse; adopt an entirely new color palette — the choice is yours. Just send your color experiments in for possible publication in the January/February 2012 issue.
Deadline for artwork to be received: August 15, 2011.
