“30 Day Blog Challenge” (day 1)

Day 1:

Frank and I have been together since 1992, married since 1996.  People say it all the time but I honestly wouldn’t know what to do without him.  He’s complicated and TOUGH to love – but I do.

He is the strongest, most hard-working and clever person I’ve ever known.  He was diagnosed as having Diabetes 5 years ago – total pancreas shut down, no family history, no risk factors, he is healthy-works 7 days a week in a very physical job as a roofing foreman, drinks more water than humanly possible but, there it was.

Faced with the fact that Frank/Dad was human and therefore not immune to disease, the kids and I went through a period of shock (still feel that way most days).

I am proud of him and lucky he is mine.  That doesn’t mean that he is a picnic…and he knows it.  But if he were spineless and easy, I wouldn’t love him like I do.

We have one silly saying that we’ve had for many, many years.  On ‘Friends’, Ross told Rachel that she was his ‘lobster’ (they apparently mate for life)…so when one asks the other, “why do you love me?”

the answer is always, “because you’re my lobster.”

Leave a comment & Link to another blog/Postaday 2011

Found a very cool post on this cool blog:

30-Day Blog Challenge

by melissa

Starting today, I’m beginning the 30-Day Blog Challenge. I honestly can’t remember where I found this, as it’s been sitting in my drafts folder for at least 6 months. It is highly possible that I just Googled “blog prompts” and found it. If you want to join in, feel free. And if it came from you and you’re here reading this, please let me know and I’ll link back to you (of course, that would have to mean I’m a reader of your blog…). :)

…and here was my comment reply…

I love this, so glad you posted it! I’m using you to do the ‘link to another blog’ just so ya know…and I’m going to kick my own butt to answer a question a day.
Thanks again!

In the interest of being anal and wanting each day to have it’s own post, Day 1 will be in the following post.

I’m Posting every day in 2011!

GENERIC FORM POST

I’ve decided I want to blog more. Rather than just thinking about doing it, I’m starting right now.  I will be posting on this blog once a day / once a week for all of 2011.

I know it won’t be easy, but it might be fun, inspiring, awesome and wonderful. Therefore I’m promising to make use of The DailyPost, and the community of other bloggers with similiar goals, to help me along the way, including asking for help when I need it and encouraging others when I can.

If you already read my blog, I hope you’ll encourage me with comments and likes, and good will along the way.

Signed,

Missy

Ok, now it’s me…Yes, yes, yes…I know there’s not much left to 2011 but the rules clearly state that it doesn’t matter if there’s 3 months or 3 days left! So, it’s just a formality to post this and now, I have formally posted.

Whirlwind of Activity

I am definitely in the middle of a little whirlwind of art filled activity.  Something bit me threw me into Idea Overload.  This is all well and good with me.  Of course my goals are to get myself published in one of the art magazines that I love, author a book and use my art to create other things.

Right now I am working on a couple of 7×14 paintings on canvas, my personal art journal and a couple of handmade books that I began just to see if I could do it.

I am working on a few specific pieces for ‘calls and/or challenges’ from some of my favorite magazines:

‘Art Journaling’ Magazine by Stampington    has an open call for inspirational and beautiful art journals (August 15 and February 15)

‘Somerset Memories’ : artful journals destined to become keepsakes. (may 15 and nov. 15)

‘Somerset studios, the art of paper and mixed media

Cheerful Chartreuse ‘   There is something about this shade of green that makes people smile. It is a bold, vivid, and friendly color. It’s found just about everywhere — from wall colors and couture dresses to yarn and cardstock — making it a fun color to work with.  Accent your tintype collection with chartreuse; adopt an entirely new color palette — the choice is yours. Just send your color experiments in for possible publication in the January/February 2012 issue.
Deadline for artwork to be received: August 15, 2011.
